In this episode of Mentoring for the Modern Musician the Scharff Brothers were privileged to sit down with living legend Livingston Taylor In front of a live audience of students and faculty from the Berklee College of Music!!!
Livingston Taylor’s career as a professional musician has spanned 50 years, encompassing performance, songwriting, and teaching. Described as "equal parts Mark Twain, college professor, and musical icon, Livingston maintains a performance schedule of more than a hundred shows a year, delighting audiences with his charm and vast repertoire of his 15 albums and popular classics. Livingston has written top-40 hits recorded by his brother James Taylor and has appeared with Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Fleetwood Mac, and Jimmy Buffet. He is equally at home with a range of musical genres - folk, pop, gospel, jazz - and from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. In addition to his performance schedule, Livingston is a full professor at Berklee College of Music, passing on the extensive knowledge gained from his long career on the road to the next generation of musicians.

In this episode of Mentoring for the Modern Musician the Scharff Brothers are lucky enough to chat with Musician extraordinaire Michael Gallant! Michael is a New York-based pianist/keyboardist, composer, producer, writer, and entrepreneur. As the leader of the Michael Gallant Trio, he has released two critically acclaimed albums, 2013’s Completely and 2015’s Live Plus One, and toured internationally with bandmates Dmitry Ishenko (bass) and Rob Mitzner (drums). Most recently, the Trio performed at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC as part of the annual Take 5! Concert Series. As a vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter, Gallant performs with Aurical. The band has played twice to capacity crowds at New York’s Lincoln Center and will release its second album in 2018!
As the founder and CEO of Gallant Music LLC, Gallant currently writes arts and music-related content for the National Endowment for the Arts, the U.S. State Department, M: Music and Musicians, Universal Audio, Echoes Blog, and other outlets.
So, yeah, the dude knows his stuff!!!

In this episode of Mentoring for the Modern Musician the Scharff Brothers welcome Grammy Award Winning Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Rebecca Haviland! Rebecca recently completed a year playing keyboards and guitar for multi-platinum selling pop artist Rachel Platten, including television performances on Ellen and Good Morning America, and performances across North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. She has also played keyboards and Mandolin for Crystal Bowersox (American Idol) and Evan Watson, and recording backing vocals on hundreds of albums including Grammy award winning album “Home” by Tim Kubart and The Space Cadets.
Her own band - Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart – (https://www.rebeccahaviland.com/) has performed in support of Roberta Flack, Chris Young, Rick Springfield, Martin Sexton and James McCartney. Their first record released in 2012, received awards in the International Songwriting Competition and Unsigned Only Competition. Rebecca recently finished recording a new album with producer Don DiLego, with a new single Bright City Lights, released November 15th, 2017 and the album to follow in early 2018.

Funkworm is a Chicago based producer/mixer/engineer who draws on over two decades of industry experience in the creation of the Rapratz universe. It's the real-world experience of this prolific artist that informs these comics and animations, making them poignant and hilarious for anyone in the industry!
